Cosmic Nails, Part 2

25 Mar

My cousin Cassie, who did these amazing cosmic nails last week, redid and revised her design and came up with these sparkling beauties. She has quite the talent, don’t you think?

Hunger Games Glam

23 Mar

I just finished The Hunger Games, the first book in the trilogy, yesterday just in time for the premiere tomorrow. I’m seeing it with four of my friends who have been dying for me to read the series before we all saw the movie. Mission accomplished, and I must say that I loved it much more than I had anticipated. In fact, I’m already a third through the second book Catching Fire. In honor of the movie, China Glaze created a Capitol Colours series of polishes for lacquer lovers and book lovers alike. My favorite color is Riveting, an electrifying orange that will look amazing with a tan come summertime. If we’re to take the words of Effie, I think it’s safe to say that with these polishes, the odds will be ever in your (fashion) favor.

Happy National Fragrance Day!

21 Mar

Yes, National Fragrance Day is a holiday for us beauty lovers. To  celebrate, below are a few of my favorite fragrances.

My Everyday Go-To: Burberry The Beat Eau De Parfum

I’ve been wearing this scent for three years now, and I never tire of it. Like the name suggests, it’s upbeat and fun–perfect to get you going in the morning.

Smells like: a spicy floral

Notes of: bergamot, pink pepper, white musk and cedarwood

Burberry The Beat Eau De Parfum, $57 for 1 oz.,

My Evening Out Spray: Guerlain Shalimar Eau De Parfum

My mom used to wear this fragrance when I was younger. It’s so strong that you only need a drop of it, but I love the rich, overwhelming smell. It’s guaranteed to last from prepping to go out until the last song of the night.

Smells like: an exotic musk

Notes of: lemon, jasmine, tonka bean and incense

Guerlain Shalimar Eau De Parfum, $124 for 3 oz.,

My Most Creative Applicator: Thierry Mugler Angel Hair Mist

For a hint of sneaky scent throughout the day, I spritz the underside of my hair with this hair mist to prevent greasy strands. Two sprays are enough to last all day.

Smells like: a spicy chocolate (really!)

Notes of: chocolate, caramel, patchouli and honey

Thierry Mugler Angel Hair Mist, $36 for 1 oz.,

My Double Duty Scent: Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Solid Perfume Necklace

This adorable necklace hides a solid pat of  Viva La Juicy inside. This has got to be the cutest and easiest way to freshen fragrance on the go, and the sweet scent perfectly encapsulates the brand’s fun and flirty vibe.

Smells like: a fruity berry dessert

Notes of: wild berries, mandarins, sandalwood and praline

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Solid Perfume Necklace, $48,

Out of this World Nails

21 Mar

My cousin Cassie does AMAZING nail art. Because she doesn’t blog, I’m posting my favorite of her designs here. These are her cosmic nails. She used four different colors and torn makeup sponges to do the effects.

Lipstick Love: Kate Moss Edition

21 Mar

I must admit, when it comes to models, Kate Moss has long been my favorite. I think my favorite part about the royal wedding was that it produced a meme that said “There is only one Kate in London.” Her look is always edgy and effortless, and I think she is  the most versatile supermodel in the world (her androgynous LOVE cover, anyone?). I was so excited when I first heard she was developing a lipstick line with Rimmel London. Below are the two colors I bought from the line. One’s an in-your-face red (the one Kate wears in the ad) and the other is a more neutral everyday pink-orange. I love them both!

“Mood-y” Nails

21 Mar

As a nail polish junkie, I’m always looking for to the coolest colors and extra-awesome effects. In The Mood polishes fall into both categories because this line changes color based on temperature. Much like a mood ring, the color transforms if you hold a cold cup, run your hands under warm water and yes, change moods. My favorite shade is the fiercely fiery Naughty, which turns from orange to yellow.
